High-throughput Screening Technology for Adsorbents in Biorefinery – IMPRESS Project

Sep 12, 2023

Adsorption is the most energy-efficient technology for purification and separation in the biorefinery process. As Avantium R&D Solutions, we are dedicated to design ideal biorefinery which converts biomaterials such as trees or other sources of cellulose into chemicals like glucose, ligno-cellulose and various sugars.

With our high-throughput testing equipment, you can quickly identify the optimal adsorbent by conducting multiple experiments simultaneously, saving time and reducing chemical usage. In this video, we explore the IMPRESS biorefinery process, focusing on the power of adsorption in purifying MEG from a sticky sugar stream.

As Avantium R&D Solutions, we have been working hard to design the ideal biorefinery. In our case a biorefinery is an installation that converts biomaterials like trees or other sources of cellulose into chemicals like glucose, ligno-cellulose and various types of sugars. This video is about one step in this biorefinery, the separation and purification of sugars. As we are a sustainable company we want to do this in an energy-friendly way, namely adsorption. This video explains why adsorption is such a great technology for ideal biorefinery process.
