Flowrence XR®’s contribution to AIST’s research in Japan

Avantium’s Flowrence Technology® is an advanced high-throughput platform for high-quality testing of catalysts. The Flowrence® Technology can be used for a broad range of industrial applications.

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is one of the largest public research organizations in Japan. AIST focuses on the creation and practical realization of technologies useful to Japanese industry and society, and on “bridging” the gap between innovative technological seeds and commercialization.

Flowrence XR was installed in AIST Tsukuba campus (Japan) in 2021, enabling the group lead by Professor Tadahiro Fujitani to accelerate their catalysis research. The test unit was designed to withstand reactor pressures up to 500 bar which makes it compliant with stringent Japanese safety certifications. In addition, it is equipped with Avantium’s patented Microfluidic Distribution, enabling it to accurately discriminate small differences in catalyst performance.

“Flowrence XR has significantly reduced the time required for us to discover and develop functional materials and catalysts. Its impact on our research and development has been transformative.”Tadahiro Fujitani

Professor, The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)

The Flowrence Technology® is leading for refinery, green chemistry and many other applications. The combination of Avantium’s broad knowledge of applications and the Flowrence Technology® creates a powerful, cost-efficient method of testing catalysts and a faster way to bring new products to market.
