Isomerization is one of the key processes in (e)-SAF production. It allows to tune the chain length, hydrogenation rate and viscosity of combustion fuels. David Farrusseng and Quentin Rivet from Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l’Environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON) and co-workers from IFPEN investigated the isomerization of olefins, in particular model compound 3,3-dimethyl-1-butene. Their recent publication in the Journal of Catalysis shows the correlation between Bronsted acid sites of various boehmite catalysts supporting the isomerization reaction.
