Separation & Purification

Our multi column systems are tailored for (ad)sorbent users and developers.

Adsorption experiments for research or quality control are done by scientists all over the world. New (ad)sorbents are being developed in the search to enhance selectivity, capacity, operational cost and energy efficiency.

Avantium’s high-throughput solutions are based on our experience in a wide range of gas and liquid purification and separation challenges.

The flowthrough approach is flexible and makes testing adsorbents under actual conditions possible. Our customized systems have flexible gas delivery systems and evaporators for generating water and/or organic vapor. The microfluidic chip distributes the gas(mixture) or liquid feed with the highest accuracy to the columns in parallel.

Ready for fast and accurate testing of your adsorption performance

To select the best adsorbent for such a process involves considering selectivity, capacity, operational cost and energy efficiency. Avantium’s high throughput breakthrough tailor-made systems offer several advantages.

  • Fast adsorbent screening reducing the time to market due to simultaneously testing multiple samples.
  • Works with small samples leading to lower experimental costs by smaller batches.
  • Flexibility in test conditions taking you as close as you can get to your process conditions
  • Reliable results by testing multiple samples simultaneously under identical test conditions

Applications

For contract research and validation purposes, flexible high throughput systems are available in our labs:

  • Dedicated systems for liquid phase testing of (ad)sorbents for separation or purification purposes. Important applications may be isomer or MEG separation or the removal of impurities like PFOA’s, Micro Pollutant’s.
  • Dedicated systems for gas phase testing are suitable for atmospheric and pressurized (ad)sorbent testing conditions. Purification applications are DAC (Direct Air Capture) & CC (Carbon Capture), contaminants from air or pressurized hydrogen. Typical separation applications are the separation of Syngas/Product gas or air in nitrogen and oxygen.
